USAL's announcement aligns with National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, which is January 11, and National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which is January.

USAL has signed-on to support and sponsor Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), a nonprofit organization that exists to educate, equip, empower and mobilize members of the trucking, bus, and energy industries to combat human trafficking.
USAL has also committed to ensuring its entire workforce is certified with TAT training. TAT provides companies with a number of resources including training videos, posters, and wallet cards to help educate their associates—particularly drivers—on the signs of human trafficking and what a driver should do if they suspect it.
Additionally, USAL is retrofitting its fleet of trucks with TAT decals on the drivers' side windows. The decals, which display SMS and phone contacts for trafficking victims to seek help, are also being incorporated into USAL's truck branding package at the time of manufacture.
"By educating our driving associates on what to look for and empowering them to take a stand, USAL is committed to making a difference on this issue and looking forward to working with Truckers Against Trafficking,” said William Mauldin, USAL's vice president of operations. "We encourage all of our partners, particularly those who do business on America's roadways to keep their eyes open for the signs of human trafficking. Together we may be able to help someone who is shackled to this evil."
Human trafficking, which can include forced labor, domestic servitude, and commercial sex trafficking, has been recorded in all 50 states, and it is estimated that thousands of American children are at risk of being trafficked each year.
The Truckers Against Trafficking organization is building a mobile army of transportation professionals to assist law enforcement in the recognition and reporting of these heinous crimes to help recover victims and arrest perpetrators.
